New Year, New You: 3 Great Events to Start 2024

Get a jump start on your new year by learning skills and techniques to help you get organized and be creative, lower your stress and increase your attention, and improve your flexibility and ease work/study strains! Join us at Schusterman Library at OU-Tulsa for three great events to learn about bullet journaling, mindfulness meditation, and office yoga. All events are free, but registration is required.

 

New Year, New You: Bullet Journaling & Beyond

Learn about bullet journaling and how you can use it to get organized, practice reflection, or be creative! OU-Tulsa Librarian Bethie Seay will teach you about the trendy bullet journal method as well as different ways to make journaling your own.

A few examples of journal uses include:

  • Goal setting
  • Coursework tracking
  • Art and journaling
  • To do lists and calendars

This free event is open to all OU-Tulsa students, staff, and faculty. Some markers and rulers will be available for practice. The first 20 people to register will receive free journals.

 

New Year, New You: Mindfulness Meditation

Join us as Dr. Linda Barnum, Associate Professor in Human Relations, presents on what mindfulness meditation is and leads us in a demonstration session.

Some of the proven benefits of mindfulness mediation are:

  • Decreases job/school burnout
  • Improves sleep and helps with insomnia
  • Lowers stress
  • Lowers anxiety
  • Decreases pain
  • Lessens depression
  • Lowers high blood pressure

Join us as Kimberly Kite shows us easy exercises that can be done anywhere to improve flexibility, increase muscle strength, and ease strains caused by working and studying.
