Computer Use Policy

General Computer Use

All users of the computers in the OU-Tulsa Schusterman Library are expected to comply with the “Acceptable use of Information Systems” policies, standards, and guidelines available at https://it.ouhsc.edu/policies.

The Schusterman Library computers are intended to support the education, research, and patient care missions of the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa. Computers are available for use by OU-Tulsa students, faculty, staff, and resident physicians.

Computers, software, and access to the internet provide students, faculty, staff, and resident physicians with opportunities to develop and employ skills that improve acquisition of information relevant to an environment of teaching, healing, and discovering.

Any person found in violation of the rules, or interfering with library activities, or creating a disturbance may be asked to leave the library and could be banned from future library use.

Group Study Room Policy
  • Use of the group study rooms is limited to OU-Tulsa students, residents, faculty, and staff.
  • Group study rooms may be reserved for a maximum of three hours per day per group.
  • A reservation with 'no show' will be cancelled after 15 minutes.
Late, Lost, or Damaged Materials Policy

When your book is overdue by 30 days, we will send you an email reminder to return to the book. Your library privileges, including Interlibrary Loan, will be blocked.

If we have not heard from you in 45 days, you become responsible for the cost of the book plus a service charge. We will send you an email invoice with the book replacement charge cost plus a $25 service charge amount. At 60 days, if you have not returned the book or have failed to make special arrangements with the Library, theses charges will be posted to your Bursar account (for ou.edu students) or a hold will be placed on your Registrar's account (for ouhsc.edu students) leading to possible delays in receiving grades or transcripts.

Upon returning the overdue book or paying the charges, or once the charges are posted to the Bursar, your Library privileges, including Interlibrary Loan, may be reinstated.

If a lost item is later found and returned within a reasonable time, the replacement cost will be refunded. The $25 service charge will not be refunded.

The Lost Materials Policy also applies to damaged books and to books borrowed through our Interlibrary Loan service.

Fees for overdue technology and game items will begin to accrue on the third day the item is overdue. These include a non-refundable $25 Lost Item Processing Fee plus the replacement cost of the item. The replacement cost only will be waived upon return of the item. At seven days overdue, an invoice for the total amount owed will be charged to the patron's bursar account if the patron is a Norman affiliate. If the patron is an HSC affiliate, a block will be placed on the patron's registrar account.
